Opportunities, however, are still\navailable to investors who can steer a safe course through choppy waters.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p><strong>Uncertainty abounds<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p>One look at the latest economic forecasts released by the International\nMonetary Fund (IMF) gives a strong hint of the challenges that lie ahead. The\ninternational soothsayer described the current outlook as <em>\u2018gloomy and more\nuncertain\u2019<\/em> as it reduced its global growth forecast to 3.2% this year and\n2.9% in 2023, downgrades of 0.4 and 0.7 percentage points from April\u2019s\npredictions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p><strong>Risks skewed downwards<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p>The IMF noted several shocks that have hit a world economy already\nweakened by the pandemic. These include higher-than-expected inflation\nworldwide which is triggering tighter financial conditions; a\nworse-than-anticipated slowdown in China, and further fallout from the war in\nUkraine. It also stressed that risks are <em>\u2018overwhelmingly tilted to the\ndownside.\u2019<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p><strong>But opportunities remain<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p>This economic sea-change clearly presents a serious challenge to\ninvestors.
