But\nmarket volatility is normal and investors who hold a well-diversified,\nrisk-appropriate portfolio and stay focused on their long-term objectives,\ngoals and aspirations are historically best equipped to get through such\nperiods.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p><strong>Clear goals\nare essential<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p>Setting clear\ngoals and developing a corresponding plan to achieve them is invariably the key\nto investment success. Although plans may need to be adapted from time to time\nto take account of changes in individual circumstances or investment goals,\nhaving a well-thought-out strategy helps investors deal with unexpected events\nand remain calm when markets become turbulent.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p><strong><em>The value\nof investments can go down as well as up and you may not get back the full\namount you invested.
