{"id":6130,"date":"2022-05-27T12:34:41","date_gmt":"2022-05-27T11:34:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.contentdeployment.co.uk\/tomd\/?p=6130"},"modified":"2022-05-27T12:34:59","modified_gmt":"2022-05-27T11:34:59","slug":"fca-outlines-plans-to-get-people-investing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.contentdeployment.co.uk\/tomd\/2022\/05\/27\/fca-outlines-plans-to-get-people-investing\/","title":{"rendered":"FCA outlines plans to get people investing"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p><strong>The\nFinancial Conduct Authority (FCA) has launched a new strategy to give consumers\nthe confidence to invest, safe in the knowledge they are supported by a\nhigh-quality advice market; and to help them do so safely, which should lead to\nfewer people being scammed or investing in products that are too risky for\ntheir needs.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p>As part of the\nstrategy the FCA is launching an awareness campaign to target people who may\nhave invested for the first time during the pandemic, often into\ncryptocurrencies, mainly for the thrill of investing rather than for long-term\nsavings goals or alignment to their needs.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p>The FCA is also\nconcerned about the high numbers of people who could benefit from investment\nearnings but are missing out by keeping money in cash. Nearly 8.6 million\npeople currently hold more than \u00a310,000 of investible assets in cash. By 2025 the\nFCA intends to reduce by 20% the number of consumers who could benefit from\ninvestment earnings but are currently missing out. In addition, it intends to\nreduce the money consumers lose to investment scams (\u00a3570m in 2020-21, tripled\nsince 2018).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p>Sarah\nPritchard, FCA Director of Markets said<em>, \u201cWe want to give consumers greater\nconfidence to invest and to help them do so safely, understanding the level of\nrisk. The package of measures we have announced today are intended to support\nthat \u2013 we want people to have greater confidence to invest.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p><strong>The value of\ninvestments and income from them may go down.
