Firms with a turnover in excess of \u00a3500m and at least 500\nemployees are expected to publish the climate-related risks they face. With the\nUK the first G20 country to make this compulsory, John Glen, Economic Secretary\nto the Treasury commented, <em>\u201cThese requirements will not only help tackle\ngreenwashing but also enable investors and businesses to align their long-term\nstrategies with the UK\u2019s net-zero commitments.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p>The\nrequirements for disclosure will be aligned to the Task Force on\nClimate-Related Financial Disclosures, backed by over 1,000 global financial\ninstitutions, and responsible for over $190trn of assets. Companies will need <em>to\n\u201cfocus on the effects of climate change on their business\u201d<\/em> and communicate\nto investors how these are being managed, according to Chris Cummings, Chief\nExecutive of the Investment Association.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p><strong>The value of\ninvestments and income from them may go down.
