But a lot of them have suffered the\ncatfishing experience at property viewings.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p><strong>New word,\nfamiliar trend<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p>A recent survey<sup>1<\/sup>\nof homebuyers suggested that more than seven in 10 were \u2018catfished\u2019 by a\nproperty during their search. The most common issue was a property being much\nsmaller than it appeared in photos.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p>Other let-downs\nincluded properties looking more outdated than expected, tiny rooms being\nadvertised as extra bedrooms and poor build quality, which frequently led\nbuyers to believe a property wasn\u2019t worth the asking price.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p><strong>Extra tools<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p>The best way to\navoid disappointment is by doing some extra research rather than relying on the\nestate agent\u2019s photos.
