Confined to our homes and trying to work from the\ndining room table or sofa, the thought of a home office has appealed to many.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p>A desire for extra space may be a major\nmotivation to convert an old shed, but it isn\u2019t the only reason to add an annex\nto your home. Research suggests an annex adds an average of \u00a391,000 to the\nvalue of a property and generates greater interest among buyers.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p><strong>To host or not to host<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p>If you are thinking of joining the annex army, you first need to be\nclear what your conversion is for. A home office is relatively simple,\nrequiring a single room and perhaps toilet facilities. On the other hand, if\nyour ambition is to host airbnb guests, you\u2019ll probably need several rooms,\nincluding a full bathroom, kitchen facilities, living space and bedroom.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p><strong>Plan your planning<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p>It\u2019s important to consider planning permission too. If you\u2019re\nconverting an existing outbuilding, like a garage or shed, you might not need\nit.
