{"id":24445,"date":"2024-06-04T11:44:40","date_gmt":"2024-06-04T10:44:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new.contentdeployment.co.uk\/tomd\/?p=24445"},"modified":"2024-06-04T11:45:01","modified_gmt":"2024-06-04T10:45:01","slug":"wealth-transfer-gains-momentum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.contentdeployment.co.uk\/tomd\/2024\/06\/04\/wealth-transfer-gains-momentum\/","title":{"rendered":"Wealth transfer gains momentum"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p><strong>Recently published research suggests the long-heralded \u2018great wealth transfer\u2019 is now firmly underway, which inevitably heightens the need for carefully considered intergenerational financial planning as assets continue to flow down the generations.<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p><strong>The great transfer<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p>Dubbed by analysts the \u2018great wealth transfer,\u2019 the next two decades are set to witness the largest ever intergenerational transfer of wealth as baby boomers and Gen X pass on assets to their heirs.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p><strong>Gaining momentum<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p>A recent survey<sup>1<\/sup> shows this transfer starting to gather momentum, with 2023 the first ever year in which billionaires amassed more wealth through inheritance than entrepreneurship. This trend is expected to continue in the coming years, with predictions millennials\u2019 wealth will increase five-fold across the current decade, with significant levels of wealth passing to Gen Z too, according to research<sup>2<\/sup>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p><strong>Continuing family legacies<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p>As the great wealth transfer progresses, each generation will clearly have their own views on legacy. The research did, however, find strong support for continuing current family legacies, with 60% of heirs planning for future generations to benefit from their wealth.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p><strong>Careful planning<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p>In addition, heirs were found to be conscious of the need to reshape and reposition their wealth in order to continue the family legacy, while they also appear to be taking a more holistic approach to the role accumulation of wealth plays in their lives.
