For couples, \u00a343,100 a year is required to live at this standard.<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p><strong>Minimum, moderate or comfortable&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p>The PLSA\u2019s Retirement Living Standards report details what levels of income retirees will need to live either a \u2018minimum,\u2019 \u2018moderate,\u2019 or \u2018comfortable\u2019 life in retirement. However, the forecast does not factor in any rent or mortgage payments.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p>As well as the cost of a \u2018moderate\u2019 life in retirement rising, so has the cost of having a \u2018minimum\u2019 living standard, which shot up by 12% from \u00a312,800 a year, to \u00a314,400 for a single person and \u00a322,400 for a couple.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p>A \u2018comfortable\u2019 standard of living, where there is more financial freedom and some luxuries, could now cost \u00a343,100 per year for one person \u2013 a jump from \u00a337,300 a year earlier. This rises to \u00a359,000 for couples to live comfortably.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p><strong>Inflation and more<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p>The increase in inflation, particularly in energy bills and food prices, over the last few years has contributed to the rising costs of retirement lifestyles. Helping family during the cost-of-living crisis, coupled with people\u2019s expectations of living standards, also played a part.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p>It\u2019s important not only to focus on your current needs, but to provide for the future and to understand how much you need to save for the standard of living you want in retirement.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p><sup>1<\/sup>PLSA, 2024&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p><strong>The value of investments can go down as well as up and you may not get back the full amount you invested.
