The Index showed that one in five UK households are currently saving\nnothing for the future and that 22% are saving less for retirement compared\nwith the same period last year.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p>Emma Watkins,\nManaging Director of Retirement and Longstanding at Scottish Widows commented, <em>\u201cIt\nwas a challenging end to another year dominated by the coronavirus pandemic for\nUK households as rising living costs pinched the pockets of people in the\nfourth quarter, causing finances to deteriorate at the fastest rate since Q2\n2020.
