This group secure their financial stability later\nin life, which can seriously impact on retirement plans.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p><strong>Modern family<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p>Socioeconomic factors such as later home ownership and\nmarriage, and divorce trends are driving this shift. On average, first\nmarriages now take place four years later than they did 20 years ago;\nsimilarly, divorce rates peak 20 years later than they did two decades\npreviously.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p>Childbirth plays a role too. More women over 40 now give\nbirth each year than those under 20, which means a growing proportion of the\npopulation will be supporting children through education later in life rather\nthan focusing on retirement planning.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p><strong>Long-term thinking<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"hd-block hd-block-paragraph\">\n<p>Currently, just 6% of retirees are considered \u2018Late\nFinancial Bloomers\u2019, though this figure is set to rise significantly over the\nnext 15 years.
